— Efficient mover with good weight distribution and core strength.

— Knows how to align targets on the move with solid burst and effective angles.

— Adept zone run-blocker with the footwork, quickness and hand placement to reach his landmarks on cut-offs, overtakes and reach blocks.

— Active, firm inside hand serves as a reliable recovery tool against moves across his face.

— Loads of experience with strong performances against Power Five opponents.

— Has some lag time when redirecting laterally that can limit his mirroring ability in the NFL.

— Will open and turn against wide rush alignments that can disrupt levels and spacing.

— Comes from a run-first scheme with minimal true dropback reps.

— 12 starts at right guard

— First-team All-C-USA selection

— 2-star recruit from the 2018 class, per 247Sports

— All-C-USA Academic Honor Roll from 2019-2023

— 55 career starts at right guard (53) and left tackle (two)

— Participated in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl

Elijah Klein is a five-year starter with 55 career starts inside UTEP’s run-heavy (58-42 run-pass split), including 12 starts at right guard in 2023. Klein has a well-rounded build with evenly dispersed weight throughout his frame, good arm length, athletic ability and play strength.

Klein is an extremely efficient zone run-blocker who plays long with good hand placement, play strength and posture to steer defenders away from the ball with the leg drive to finish blocks at a high level. He wasn’t challenged much in Conference USA, but he had strong performances against the few Power Five teams he did face, including Arizona in 2023.

In pass protection, Klein sets up quickly out of his stance and utilizes independent hands to strike rushers, with a potent inside hand to keep things in front of him. He sorts line games and stunts with ease and has a solid anchor to grind down the bull rush. Klein does show some stiffness redirecting laterally when he does overset.

Overall, Klein is a highly experienced and efficient zone run-blocker with starting-level physical traits to develop into a quality backup. He’ll have starting potential down the road if he can clean up his pass protection technique while adjusting to NFL rushers.

GRADE: 6.2 (High-Level Developmental Prospect — 5th Round)
